Trends come and go BUT some occasionally stick! One such trend is teaming formal looking trousers with casual pieces. Nailing this look can totally transform your appearance and your wardrobe. I hit the Zara sales recently and picked up these slim fit check trousers for half price at only €20! I saw something similar at full price so these certainly qualify as a style steal!

While the trousers with trainers trend was borne out of necessity for hard working commuters with aching feet, the fashion industry was quick to tap into the appeal of being stylish and comfortable (who would have thought you can be stylish and comfortable?!). Break away from Jeans and Chinos and opt for a pair of trousers to diversify your look for Spring Summer 2017.

Combining my Zara Trousers with a Borg Lined Denim Jacket is a real statement of style intent. The Denim Jacket is THE ultimate casual piece. It is one of those pieces you would not think of pairing with trousers. Opposites attract folks! The Denim Jacket is very popular at the moment so finding one shouldn’t be a problem. Check the sale rails first to bag a bargain! I got mine from River Island and you can pick up something similar here from River Island and ASOS.

I styled my outfit with a simple white short sleeve Oxford Shirt from Burton Menswear. Adding some Adidas Neo trainers in grey finishes off the Street Style X Dapper look. I love adding colour pops to my outfit and the pale pink socks certainly add some character and interest to the outfit.

Pink is one of the biggest colours in menswear right now in particular the dusty pink hue. I picked up this Bomber from Zara on the same shopping spree as the Trousers. It was only €50 and is a great fit. You can buy it here.

Pink Bomber and Trousers

Styling the Bomber and the Trousers together reminds me of a retro 1960s vibe. Keep it simple with a shirt white and some trainers. When choosing trainers the three iconic stripes of Adidas are always a great option!

Posing at Ross Castle

Wearing Trousers with a blazer seems pretty logically to me. However, depending on the texture and fabric of the Trousers this is a look which can go wrong very easily. Try to stay away from using traditional suit trousers and go for either purpose built trousers or suit trousers in different fabrics like wool.

Blazer and Trousers

Grey and Blue match together well. Colour flow is incredibly important when creating outfits. A trick I often employ is to contrast colours. Strong opposing colours look great together! My Blazer is from Zara Man. Once again the footwear is my Adidas Neo’s! You can pick up something similar here.

Remember to ACCESSORISE!Do you associate the term “accessorise, accessorise, accessorise” with women who may be shopaholics? This is in fact great advice! Accessories are the finishing touches which can really enhance your outfit. Accessories like socks (or no socks depending on the outfit), bracelets, necklaces, watches, hats and scarfs along with pocket squares give you the opportunity to add some character and interest to your outfits.

You can shop for the trousers I am wearing in this blog post here. They are a very reasonable €20 so there is not much risk with buying. If you want to immerse yourself in the Trousers Trend then check these out;

Topman Skinny Check Trousers

I love these Topman Check Skinny Chinos but look like trousers. These would be ideal for Autumn Winter outfits and would look great with Blazers, Coats and Jackets and of course Print Shirts. Definitely worth investing in. Check (pun intended!) them out here.

Zara Houndstooth Trousers

These houndstooth trousers from Zara have Spring Summer written all over them! They are made for sizzling stylish Summer nights at home or abroad! The cropped cut adds a contemporary look. These trousers are not for everyone however if you are brave enough to wear them then they will reward you! You can invest in them here.

That’s all for now folks! I have been Fashionable Frank and you have been Fantastic!

Until next time,

Stay Stylish!
