AUTUMN WINTER TRENDS

As with every season there are some updates on colour and clothing to note. Don’t worry though as I have some outfits lined up to show you how to incorporate these style updates into your wardrobe. In terms of clothing the usual suspects will be in demand once again.

COLOUR

Brighter colours are expected to be popular for AW17. This is really good as the traditional darker colour palette is going to provide some fantastic contrasts to work with. We’ll kick things off with

ORANGE

The good folks at GQ reckon Orange is going to popular (they might know a thing or two about men’s fashion!) and I agree totally – Orange when done right looks amazing especially with darker colours. I have styled my outfit with this oversized long line orange knit (bought on sale for €18) under a navy suede bomber (bought on sale for €35)  with some grey jeans and a pair minimalist trainers for a more relaxed off duty look. Orange is perfect adding a zing of interest to the traditional darker tones of black, navy and grey.

PURPLE

Purple is going to reign again…..NO?! Okay, moving swiftly on Purple is expected to be very popular for Autumn Winter 2017 according to fashionbeans. The outfit I created features the Navy Bomber Jacket from the previous outfit with a Purple / Lilac fine knit jumper (bought on sale for €7, its ridiculous I know!). Once again, this outfit is all about providing a colour pop. While not as striking as the Orange it still looks great. Purple Outerwear, Jumpers and Shirts will become more frequent as the season progresses.

CAMEL

The Camel trend will to be popular than ever this season with inspiration coming from Ermenegildo Zegna, Berluti and Canali. Camel was a huge hit 2015/2016 but it was limited to Outerwear.  According to GQ this Autumn we are going to be wearing Camel from head to toe. The Tonal Layering trend also continues so mixing shades and patterns is the way to style. I don’t like all Camel everything so I have styled this outfit based on the statement colour. A lightweight Harrington Jacket (Yes, its a sale buy) is the focal point of the look with a burgundy colour pop underneath contrasting nicely with grey jeans and minimalist trainers.

MOSS GREEN

I love this, moss green?! WTF! Moss green was popular on the catwalks with Fendi and Valentino producing some exceptional pieces. Basically, green and khaki is going nowhere (good news for me!) so all those Bombers, Shirts and Tees are still relevant guys. YAY! Chances are you guys already have a vast selection of pieces in “moss green” so its just a case of updating the style really. The outfit I styled is simple yet stylish, perfect for a night out. A Khaki Suede Bomber, white tee with black ripped jeans and the minimalist Stan Smiths (go get some now guys!)

RED

Red is most certainly not retired for Autumn Winter and it could be Extremely Dangerous if you get it wrong! So if its red and retro its in style. We are looking 90’s sportswear for inspiration here. I opted for a subtle appearance for this outfit going for a red jacket (great for layering under outerwear and blazers) with a white tee some skinny ripped jeans and the Stan Smiths.

CLOTHES

As with any change in season and trends certain pieces become more popular. Think back to previous seasons and the popularity of Bomber Jackets and Parka’s to Khaki. These trends tend to explode.

DENIM JACKETS

For Autumn Winter 2017 the Denim Jacket is your go-to Outerwear, preferably with a Shearling lining and collar. Distressed Denim Jackets are gonna be huge so start looking for pieces now.

ROLL NECKS

YES, Roll Necks are still hanging around and they still divide opinion. For me, I love wearing Roll Necks. The Roll Neck is a great alternative to shirts for your sartorial style. I wear mine with Blazers, Camel Coats even Denim Jackets. I have styled mine with black jeans with pops of colour provided by a Grey Blazer and Chelsea Boots. Roll Necks are everywhere this season and should be easy to find.

SILK SHIRTS

Taking inspiration from Spring Summer 2017 adventurous shirts featuring bold prints and Cuban Collars, Shirts in AW will be more of the same in Silk fabric. The Seventies fashion revival shows no signs of slowing and this is where Shirts are staying for the foreseeable future. GQ and Esquire both suggest Silk Shirts are going to be very trendy this Autumn – my tip is use these with Blazers to create Party inspired outfits! Check out my post on Spring Summer 2017 trends to see what if I got it right?

CORDUROY

The Seventies inspired fashion continues and has been a major influence on some of the biggest designers. Corduroy is expected to be a big hit! The fabric is warm and incorporating some pieces like a Jacket, Shirt or  Trousers into your Autumn Winter Wardrobe shouldn’t be too difficult. For the more daring reader why not go for a Corduroy Suit? I love this Corduroy Suit from River Island!

DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZERS

A throwback to Minder! (check it out here) the Double Breasted Blazer is a piece you definitely need to add to your sartorial offerings. Rocking this Blazer will instantly upgrade any outfit you have and will look great for the party season in particular!
