HOW TO DRESS LIKE A TRUE GENTLEMAN

Dressing well is a form of good manners according to fashion guru Tom Ford. The importance of appearance cannot be underestimated particularly in today’s image-conscious world. Now more than ever dressing like a true gentleman is important and not just for men who are interested in Men’s fashion or Men’s style. I love street style, however, there is something empowering about wearing a suit or dressing in a smart outfit, for example, a blazer and shirt.

How to dress like a gentleman isn’t rocket science. It can be achieved relatively easily depending on your goals. Some guys want to dress like a true gentleman on a daily basis while others just want a sprinkle of smart options in their wardrobe.

Dressing like a gentleman requires a suit. What suit you decide on is a matter of personal taste. I suggest you pick a “summer” suit, for example, a light blue linen one like the one I am modelling in the pictures along with a “winter” suit. If you wear suits to the office every day then you will have plenty of options to work with. For those of you reading who prefer a sprinkle of smart options in your wardrobe, this is a good starting point for transforming your wardrobe.

Investing in seasonal suits is a good idea as it allows you to utilise the suit as separate pieces thus giving you more outfit options. You can use the jacket and trousers for other outfits.

COVER THE BASICS

Dressing like a gentleman on a consistent basis requires some staple wardrobe pieces. Following menswear trends can be an issue when trying to create a wardrobe of dynamic pieces. Cover the basics for by investing in;

A BLAZER

A good quality blazer is something which will give a ton of outfit options. I like Camel, Navy and Grey as blazer colours and both of these work really well with navy and black jeans.

BLOCK COLOUR SHIRTS

Oxford shirts are available in a vast selection of colours. I recommending choosing these core shirts first to give you some options with your blazer. Navy and white are two colours every man needs to have in his wardrobe. I like to wear pink and light blue too. The best thing about Oxford shirt is their versatility. They will look good with everything!

NAVY AND BLACK JEANS

Dark coloured jeans are essential pieces for a gentleman’s wardrobe as they give you more outfit options then lighter coloured ones. Navy and Black compliment Camel and Grey colours also should you have picked blazers in these colours.

PERFECT THE ART OF SMART CASUAL DRESSING

Dressing like a gentleman isn’t about wearing a suit all the time. Learning the art of smart casual dressing will allow you to look like a gentleman on your downtime. By utilising pieces like blazers, shirts and jeans you can ensure you are a sharp dressed man all the time.

ACCESSORIES ARE KING

I love accessories. They make a good outfit, great. Depending on the accessories you choose. I like wearing bracelets, watches, lapel pins and pocket squares. These are small additions to outfits but definitely enhance them.
